An afternoon walk by Lindley Wood Reservoir

We had a short walk on Monday 28th December up by Lindley Wood Reservoir, about 3 miles from home. It is many years since I have seen this frozen over, showing just how cold it has been over the last week or so.

Walk on Danefield and The Chevin Chase

To blow off the cobwebs from Christmas Day I had a walk through the Chevin Forest Park - Danefield Estate - on Boxing Day morning. This coincided with The Chevin Chase and I encountered several runners on route before climbing up from the estate path to the Shawfield part of the estate at the top of East Chevin Road.

The path down to the Estate.

The memorial plaque to Reg Rwaling, head forester for many years and father of our friend Keith.

Not the sort of day for a picnic, today!

The first runner through, one of the Brownlee brothers, and an international triathlete.

Closely followed by his brother.

Some more shots of the runners, including Father Christmas and Batman!

View back down to the estate path with the later runners passing through.

Approaching the top of the climb.

Views across Shawfield.

The oldest competitor in the race - 81 years young, seen coming up the road on the way back to the car.
