Grace the Swan
Over the last ten days, my friends Katherine Hannah and Adam Pope have ridden (or should it be pedalled) a pedalo from Liverpool to Leeds on the Leeds/Liverpool canal - a total of 127½ miles in aid of Sport Relief. During this time they have raised an incredible amount of money - £41,711 at the time of writing. If you wish to donate further, go to http://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/gracetheswan.
On Wednesday we went up to Cottingley and walked three miles with them on the canal bank and then drove down to Bingley to meet them angain at which point the pedalo (attached to the two support narrowboats which they have been sleeping in and which the BBC have used as a mobile transmission centre) was taken down the 5 rise locks. After this, it had to be baled out due to the amount of water that had gone into it. They were also presented with some thermal clothing by the MD of Damart which is based in Bingley.
They finished in Leeds last night and I don't think either of them ever want to see a pedalo again!
