Grassington Dickensian Fair

The Grassington Dickenisan Fair is always held on three consecutive Saturdays in the run up to Christmas.

We usually visit on the first Saturday as this is the quietest of the three weeks.

Meeting & Interview with Samantha Barks

Last week prior to seeing the show Cabaret at The Grand theatre in Leeds I met up with Sam Barks who was playing the role of Sally Bowles in the production. Sam was one of the finalists in the "I'll do anything" programme that was on BBC1 earlier in the year and is the first of the finalists to take on a leading role.

My review of the show can be found on the following link:

Holiday in Wales - Offa's Dyke

When he was at University, Matthew had studied about the history of Offa's Dyke as part of his course on medievil history.

Because we had been unable to find traces of this when we visited the Ewyas valley, we went down to Monmouth and drove up to the Kymin, an area owned by the National Trust where Offa's Dyke is much more clearly defined. Also here is a building called "The Roundhouse", whose name is quite appropriate when you see it.

Holiday in Wales - The Pennalt Mawr Range

A walk up above Abavagenny took us to the lower slopes of the Brecon Beacons where we had some excellent views of the Pennalt Mawr ridge which had a good covering of snow.
