Spring Walk on Otley Chevin

On a beautiful Spring Sunday afternoon (15th March) we had a three mile walk on Otley Chevin. All the signs of Spring were there with buds starting on the trees and flowers coming into bloom.

The old quarry near the Car Park.

Looking down from the top of the quarry,

View from the top of the Quarry over to North Otley and Blubberhouses Moor.

Berries on the hawthorn bushes.

Oak Apple created as a reaction to eggs laid by the "gall wasp".

A 737 taking off from nearby Leeds/Bradford International Airport.

Millstone Grit outcrops near the summit of The Chevin.

Friendly dogs we encountered on the walk.

Minature daffodils near the summit.

View down Wharfedale to Armscliffe Crag.

View across to Otley and Blubberhouses Moor.

View up Wharfedale with Askwith & Denton Moors on the right.

Snowdrops still remaining in a sheltered hollow.

Pygmy Goats in the field we crossed back to the car.

The ram looking at us rather suspiciously.

But the geese were unperturbed.

Gorse bushes just coming into bloom.
