Farnley & Walk by the River Wharfe

After Church today (Sunday 10th January) we went up to Farnley and then for a walk through Wharfemeadows Park where the River Wharfe was frozen over. It is the first time I have seen it like this since 1963!

Sheep near Farnley.

View down the Wharfe Valley.

Almscliffe Crag in the distance.

View near to Farnley Hall where the famous painter W H Turner often used to stay.

The frozen River Wharfe with geese and swan prints on the ice.

Wharfemeadows Park covered in snow.

The frozen river from further up the park.

Geese taking a stroll in the snow.

Views downstream from the bridge.

The geese being fed.

Geese and gulls.

View across the park and over to Otley Chevin.
