Northumberland Holiday - Day 2 - Kielder and part of Hadrian's Wall

On Wednesday, our plan for the day was to go up to Kielder and then return via Bellingham and Brunton Turret near to the village of Wall before returning back to the guest house.

The view from the bedroom of the sheep in the field before departing after breakfast.

About 4 Christmases ago, Chris and Becky, our son and daughter-in-law had bought a tree for us which was located at Donkleywood above Falstone on the approach to Kielder Water. We therefore decided to go and find the plantation which contained our tree on our outward journey.

We went through Falstone and up the road passing the old Thorneyburn Stationmaster's cottage.

We reached the old railway cutting and the bridge going over the old railway.

And here they were, the plantations on either side of the road that were about four years old. Which is our tree we don't know but we took a few pictures of the plantations. It is bound to be on one of these!

As you can see, it was in "the back of beyond".

We drove to the end of Kielder Water and stopped and had lunch near to Kielder Castle.

We then headed back along Kielder Water where we made various stops to take pictures before crossing over the dam at the end where there is a plaque commemorating the opening of the reservoir nearly 28 years ago.

The Methodist Church at Falstone.

Daffodils coming into bloom in Bellingham.

And a very strange looking tree in Bellingham as well.

The sign says it all.

We then moved onto Chester's Bridge where in the field overlooking the weir there were some newborn lambs.

On the return to Kellah, we stopped to look at Feathertone Castle and Featherstone Bridge.
