At the end of January the British Waterways Board had a couple of Open Days to let the public see what they were doing in connection with the renovations of the lock gates at Bingley's 5 Rise Locks.
We visited this on the Saturday and below are pictures taken as we walked down through the empty locks to see this work being undertaken.
The queues waiting to go down the locks.
The canal upstream from the top of the locks.

The ladder to the top of the first lock showing the line where the water normally is and the green moss above

A good view showing the depth of the locks themselves
The second of the new lock gates
The final lock at the end of the descent
Looking back at the crowds descending
