Kilnsey Show - Another Muddy Day!

If you remember last year we went to Kilnsey show on the Tuesday after the August Bank holiday. We did the same this year and again it was another muddy experience. Thank God we had the presence to take our wellies with us again to wear.

We met two groups of friends at the show - Lindsay Shaw and Brian Westmacott, fellow Wainwright Society members and then Paul Glover and his wife, an old fellwalking and running friend from the Horsforth Fellandale Club.

The pictures below give a taster of what we encountered at the show.

Horse and its foal ready for judging.

Passing on spinning to the younger generation.

The falconer from the Coniston Hotel near Gargrave.

The chef from the Coniston Hotel giving a cookery demonstration - the two dishes he cooked were local trout and pan-fried kidneys with a caper sauce. Smelled delicious!

The next two pictures show just how muddy the fields were!

Some of the prizewinning vegetables on display.

Cattle waiting to be judged.

The various varieties of sheep

There was a lot of interest in the Alpacas.

Judging the Longhawns.

The Falconry display.

View back towards the showground prior to departing.

Display horses on the way out of the showground.

The local hunt were coming to the show just as we were leaving.

Cleaning the wellies in the river on the way back to the car.
