Northumberland Holiday - The Journey North and Haltwhistle

Between 23rd and 26th March we had a few days up in Northumberland staying just outside Haltwhistle which is classed as being the town at the centre of Britain being equidistant between the points to the NE, NW, SE & SW of the country. The pictures below are of the first day travelling up to Haltwhistle, our guesthouse where we stayed, pictures of the town and then a visit to Cawfield Quarry prior to going for dinner at the nearby Inn.

Lunchstop at Daddry Shield in County Durham.

Kelhope Lead Mine (which wasn't opening until 2nd April so we couldn't look round) and Alston Moor where there was still snow lingering.

Kallah Farmhouse where we were staying for 3 nights.

Sheep in the field behind the car park.

Haltwhistle

Cawfield Quarry and lake.

The Vallum (more of which on Day 3's pictures)
