Ashness & Watendlath

On our final day before we departed at lunchtime we went up to Ashness Bridge and then down to Watendlath before returning back to Ashness over Ether Knott and Cafell Side.

The view from Ashness Bridge over to the Skiddaw Massif is a classic Lake District picture and we are glad the weather had improved enough to give us some good views.

Watendlath is the setting for the Herries series of books written by Sir Hugh Walpole and the cottage at Watendlath is the setting of the home of Judith Paris in the novel of the same name.
