On the Thursday of our week in Scotland we went over to Tarbett Ness headland in the morning and then after lunch eaten by the shore at Inver we went up to the Glenmoranchie distillery in the afternoon. Pictures below with captions where appropriate sum up the day.
Tarbet Ness Lighthouse.
The shoreline at Inver.
The Glenmoranchie distillery.
Reception area with bottles on display.
The vat area where the malt and barley is boiled.
Our tour guide.
The distillers a century ago.
The still area.
Barrels in the yard ready for filling.
Barrels with Whisky in them, known as a single fill.
Barrels that have previously had either Sherry, Port or Sauternes in them and now have Whisky in the barrels - known as second fill barrels.
The tasting room. I only had a very small taste as I was driving. Viv had less than half a glass as she is not keen on Whisky so Matthew (who likes his Whisky) ended up with 2½ glasses of Sauternes flavoured 12 year old Malt Whisky.
The range of Whiskies on the bar.
Making our way back to the car after a most interesting tour.
