The Washburn Valley & Norwood - Easter Monday

On Easter Monday, my sister Ruth came over from Heckmondwike to see us for the day so we went for a walk up part of the Washburn Valley.

We parked at Lindley Bridge which crosses the two halves of Lindley Wood Reservoir and then walked up by the side of the River Washburn as far as the old packhorse bridge at Dob Park. We then climbed up out of the valley to to minor road at Norwood and walked along there to the small Methodist Chapel where refreshments are served each Bank Holiday Monday. After a refreshing cup of tea and some very nice chocolate cake we dropped back down to Lindley Wood Reservoir and the car.

The bridge over Lindley Wood Reservoir.

View across to Norwood.

Ruth & Viv on the track by the side of the reservoir.

Plenty of water coming off the hillside.

Views back down the reservoir.

An unusally coloured stone wall, probably due to iron deposits in the stone.

The northern end of the reservoir.

The River Washburn.

Crossing the river and views from the bridge.

The field leading towards Dob Park Bridge.

Daffodils on the riverbank.

Looking north towards Dob Park Bridge.

Views across to Clifton.

The televison mast on the top of Norwood Edge.

Lambs in the fields.

Gorse flowering in the wood.

More lambs in the fields.

Crossing Lindley Wood Reservoir - looking South.

And the view to the North.
